Sandra Geco

Sandra works and collaborates among others with Wim Vandekeybus (Cie Ultima Vez), José Montalvo (Théâtre National de Chaillot), Séverine Bidaud (cie 6th dimension), Amala Dianor and recently assisted Sandrine Lescourant (cie Kilaï) in her creation “Acoustics”. A hybrid dancer and versatile artist, she began dancing in Roanne (Classical, Jazz, Mime and Theater) and then went to train with Rosella Hightower at the Cannes dance school. She dances ballets of the classical and neoclassical repertoire and goes to the ABT (American Ballet Theater) for a Collegiate Summer Intensive. At the same time, she discovered hip hop dance and trained in different techniques in the street according to her encounters and desires. Curious and versatile, she specifies herself in popping and “Newstyle” hip hop. She does the opening show of Juste Debout in Bercy with an astonishing mix of classic and pointe popping.

Passionate about this search for movement and the intelligence of the body to adapt to different styles and different energies, she continues to push her mixture of techniques further and crosses paths with José Montalvo who gives her the opportunity to revisit Don Quixote’s ballet by fusing the great variations of Kitri’s repertoire with hip hop technique. It also allows her to tackle for the very first time a dance that she has been particularly fond of for a very long time “the Krump”.

It is then alongside Wim Vandekeybus that she connects with contemporary and physical theater (dance theater) which are an integral part of her work today. We find there this relationship to the image, to the theatricality of the body, to the sensitive world of movement, of the moment and of nothing … Passionate about photography and video from a very young age, it was from this meeting that she decided to pay more attention to her audiovisual work and to bring her own identity between surrealism and poetry. It was in 2017 that she joined the 6th Dimension company as a performer of Dis, à quoi tu danses ?, then recently the new creation, Faraëkoto, a duo created in October 2020. Founder and organizer of the “CØMPAS” dance workshops. For her, it is a social act with a cultural desire for transmission. An overwhelming desire to develop, to enrich access to work on the ground “the floorwork” and to company work in Paris. It thus offers participants a real connection to the current movement of the contemporary international scene.
